We had a BIG weekend, we took a family trip to Connecticut! We had MANY firsts with the baby, and he did AMAZING!
I’ll do a full traveling with a baby blog post later. We had so much fun while visiting my brother in law and like I said a lot of firsts!
For starters, it was our first time on a plane! Mom and dad were a little nervous on how it was going to go, but he did so so good! We got lucky and planned it out perfectly where he fell asleep at the start of the flight, slept for most of it and woke up with about 20 minutes left. We hit some turbulence, but he thought it was funny. The people across the aisle were super nice too and played peek-a-boo with him. When they stopped paying attention to him, he actually pretended to cough to get their attention again.. He also got his wings and a collectors card from the captain about the plane he was on!

Before getting to the hotel, we went to Modern Apizza in New Haven. They are known for their thin-crust pizza and SUPER friendly staff. So many people (both staff and customers) stopped by to say hi to us (lets be honest, mostly the baby). He was playing with a plastic cup, so a little noisy and everyone was very nice about him slamming it around. Highly recommend getting a pizza there. It was pretty easy to get in and parking was easy as well. After a belly full of pizza, we went swimming for the first time! He LOVED it! He was a natural fish, kicking his feet, giggling, and wanting to stay in the water.

A quick nap, we were then off to Uncle D’s hockey game! We loved all the lights, watching the game, people watching and cheering! The one part we did not like, was the big boat horn that went off every time they scored, and this game they scored a lot.. We ended up walking around a lot. It was also wayyyy past bedtime. If you know you know, we were playing with fire, but he was a trooper and hung in there.

The next day, we dropped baby off with grandma and grandpa and mom and dad had a little day date. I first started off in the gym. I might be in the minority, but I love working out in hotel gyms. Sometime they have machines that I never get to use (I mostly workout from home). I’ve been pretty easy on myself with the baby weight, but this weekend, I was like dang, I really don’t feel like myself anymore and I’m ready to get back into working out and dropping the weight. Would that be something you are interested in seeing? At home workouts, meals, etc? After the gym, we went to Ted’s Restaurant, where they have steamed cheeseburgers. I guess they are like THE place in CT to get steamed cheeseburgers. They were pretty good! I don’t know what cheese they use, but that was super good! It’s a super small diner, like 4 booths and a bar. We also got the sweet potato french fries with cinnamon chipotle seasoning and cheese fries. We do not have steamed burgers from where I am, so it was an experience to watch it being made. I really wanted ice cream after (lol obviously my diet from this morning was going well), so we went to Scoopy’s Ice Cream. SOOOOO GOOODDD!!!!! I also just love ice cream in general, but they have some fun flavors. I ended up getting 1 scoop of the Gram Slam and 1 scoop of the Cookie Dough, and of course added sprinkles.

We were all pretty fried from the weekend so far, so we ended up skipping the second hockey game and stayed in. We were also expecting a HUGE snow storm. We actually didn’t know if we were going to be able to fly out the next morning. Alec and I got sushi and noodles and watch the hockey game on tv, the baby ended up sleeping for 13 hours straight! So we figured it was a good decision to stay in.
We woke up to a winter wonderland, but our plane was still on time. So we had breakfast with Uncle D and Aunt Ava and headed to the airport. This time around, we were pretty nervous. Going to CT, he fell right asleep. This time he was wide awake, ready to play. I read a lot about baby ears popping during take off and was so nervous that it was going to set him off. Once again, he did really good! Played while we were taking off and within 20 minutes in the air, fell asleep until we woke up him because we had to get off the plane.
It was also Super Bowl weekend! We are big Eagle fans in our house! So it was a good weekend for us! Since we just got back from a long weekend, we didn’t do anything crazy. Just ordered a pizza and watched the game. Here are some pictures of us at one of the games a few years ago!
